About FBR
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is the government-affiliated organization in Pakistan that manages customs-related taxes and responsibilities. Before reporting to the president and prime minister, the head of FBR makes connections with all of the finance ministries and agencies. Mr. Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana is the FBR’s current chief of operations. The chairman is responsible for setting and carrying out fiscal policy, enforcing and collecting federal taxes, and performing the quasi-judicial task of reviewing appeals. To put it plainly, the chairman of FBR is in charge of taxation and collection, revenue generation for enhancing the nation’s economy, hearings and resolution of conflicts between people or groups and the government, and industry regulation.
The Federal Board of Revenue was once called the Central Board of Revenue and was founded on April 1st, 1924. Starting in 1944, it served as the Ministry of Finance’s revenue section. A similar system persisted until the 1960s, after Pakistan gained its independence. FBR became an attached department of the Ministry of Finance based on recommendations provided by the Administrative Reorganization Committee.
