About Special Security Unit SSU Sindh Police
One of the Sindh Police’s specialised units, the Special Security Unit (SSU), stands out for its unique operational traits, including its ability to conduct security and counterterrorism duties concurrently and with extraordinary accuracy, professionalism, and precision. As a specialised security force, the SSU was established on October 18, 2010, fulfilling the ambition of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan at the time. The initial directive was to safeguard Important Personalities and Crucial Installations.
Under the motto “PROUD TO PROTECT,” the SSU has established itself as a model for specialised units, especially those entrusted with security and terrorist duties. As Commandant SSU, Mr. Maqsood Ahmed is in charge of the SSU. He has also been given command of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Elite Police Training Centre (SBBEPTC), Razzakabad, Karachi, because of his creative and active leadership.
